Founded in 2026 Co-owners, Matthew and Rebecca have always been artists and lovers of art but made their livings in different ways. Matt being from corporate and Rebecca from education. Having spent many years working part-time in the tattoo industry, while still working full-time in corporate, both studying art in its many forms. They knew they wanted to have a different kind of tattoo shop. A place that focuses on custom art pieces, pulling from their love of art history as well as being a safe space for all. Something that was comfortable for both white and blue collar professionals, minimizing some of the lingering stigmas that some have against tattoo artists and studios. A place that would feel comfortable and relaxed to an 18-year-old getting her first tattoo or a 65-year-old getting his fifteenth tattoo. A safe space for people from all different kinds of marginalized communities, all backgrounds, all walks of life. Tattooing is a beautiful art form that should be shared with as many people as possible, Black Candle looks forward to sharing everything they are capable of with you!
